In addition to the object, we require a light source and an <a href=\"https:\/\/themesindep.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"observer (opens in a new tab)\">observer<\/a>. The majority of objects are opaque, so most of the time we are dealing with the reflection of light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#c9ffe9\">If an object is semi-opaque, and transmits a portion of light, we refer to it as translucent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Visible light is a tiny sliver of the total electromagnetic spectrum. The science of physiology, the study of the human body\u2019s functions, provides half the story. <a href=\"https:\/\/themesindep.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Psychology (opens in a new tab)\">Psychology<\/a>, which provides insights about the function of the mind, completes the tale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote is-style-default\"><blockquote><p>The effect of colour constancy provides a very important lesson in judging our success in colour matching: it is more important to preserve the overall colour relationships in our image than to focus on individual colour accuracy.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In our mind\u2019s eye, not all colours are created equal.
